A traditional ploughmans has the following:

A nice medium/mature cheddar. (or brie, stilton)

Good thick hunks of nice crusty bread- probably a mix of white and granary bread.

A good dollop of Pickle or chutney

A couple of pickled onions.

Some lovely fresh green salad.

Often an apple/half an apple.

These days, also often served with some crisps- usually ready salted.
As explained in my link kira

Bothams Fruit Cake For Cheese 300g approx
Real Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese 500g
Wensleydale with Onion & Chives 200g wax
Swaledale with Old Peculiar 220g wax
Ploughmans Chutney 219g
Red Onion Marmalade 220g
Oaten Biscuits with Celery & Black Pepper 150g
Shah Ginger Biscuits 200g

Kira? Beautiful name by the way!
Keep it simple. Cheddar, Pickled onions, Really good french bread , Good lump of butter, crunchy salad . Add different cheeses if you want such as blue cheese and or a local soft cheese.

Ermm, not really poodicat, its just that i always use wikipedia for my information purposes,do you really think i work for yorkshire cheeses? As its a long commute from london!

Why thank you Mr Hurl. I'm flattered.

When i started my previous post, yours was not there. Hence the repitition.
Wensleydale instead of cheddar - get real!!

If I was served that, I'd send it back - not because I don't like wensleydale, just that I wouldn't have it in a ploughmans.
So Poodicat your going to think that everytime that i post a link that ive got shares in whatever company or industry thats featured?

Read my answer properly - I'm not complaining about the cheese. If it's OK for W & G, it's OK for me.

Just not when I ask for a ploughmans......
