Oh no! I didn't realise he was in hospital. I hope he has a speedy recovery too, whatever it is he is unwell with.

If anyone who knows him personally on here please give him my best wishes xxx
Yes hopefully, he was treated quite badly by some people which was awful
He was very depressed and as Dot says was treated badly. I dont think that helped.
tiggerblue, Rosetta, and Puddicat. Not long after Christmas I and several other Abers sent our wishes for Mr. Pickle's speedy return to good health, via a message to Mr. Veritas. Mr. Veritas replied to say that Mr. Pickle had been in hospital for a while before Christmas and was expected to be there for about 12 weeks. However, Mr.V didn't say what his illness was. The last I heard was a few weeks ago, when I sent a message to Mr. & Mrs. V. to congratulate them on their Diamond Wedding Anniversary, also asking Mr. V, if he would pass on good wishes to Mr. Pickle. Mr. V. once again replied, and unfortunately at that time the news was not good. He said that rather than 12 weeks it was expected to be much longer, and that there was a possibility of Mr. P having E.C.T treatment, so it does sound as if it could be a severe type of depression. Mr.V. did say that Mr. Pickle was very pleased to know that some of the Abers were thinking of him. Perhaps as a few weeks have passed since then, it might be an idea to post a message (FAO Mr.Veritas), and ask him to pass on good wishes to Mr. P from those who have enquired about him. what do you think. Schutz.
Thank You tigger,and everyone.
Poor Pickel has now been in hospital for some time,he is Bi~Polar (manic Depressive) and had reached a critical stage in his condition.
He is at present in a Community Mental Health Unit.
They have been trying (not very well in my opinion) to work out a regime for him.
They keep changing his meds, which doesn't help.
Recently, much against my advice (but hey what do I know) he had a few sessions of ECT(Electro Convulsive Therapy) which I consider barbaric.
This treatment is much like kicking a TV set that has a bad picture, sure the picture comes back but you don't know just what damage you have done to the receiver!
ECT seems (in the UK) to have gone into the medical closet. All the medics you speak to say it's awful and not carried out any more. Then you speak to many patients who have had it,just who is telling the truth?
All this has done is turn him into a sort of zombie,he just sits all day staring at the wall.He can't remember his depression, but then again he can't remember anything else either!
I will pass on your good wishes, but as he has problems remembering me he may not remember what AB is!
In case you don't know what ECT is,have a look here, but it's not nice and if you are squeamish I wouldnt read further.
Thanks
Alec.

Mr. Veritas, my brother was given ECT many years ago, to help him with his mental problems. He ended up far more mentally ill than he was before the treatment.

I sincerely hope this is not the case with Mr. Pickle.

As you say, he might not even remember AB. But if he does, please will you give him my fondest regards?

Thanks Mr. Veritas.
Oh poor Pickle. My oldest sister had EST several years ago. She could'nt stand up let alone walk afterwards and kept saying her brain felt like jelly. It did'nt help her one bit. My thoughts go out to IAP. You sound like a good friend to him Alec.
Mr V, I have 'known' IAP for some time, please pass on my most heartfelt wishes.

Cheers,
Octavius
I am very sorry to hear this sad news about In A Pickle. He always appeared on here to be a kind and gentle person. I hope by some miracles he gets well.

I am deeply touched by your good wishes(and by your experiences too) and will TRY and convey them to Pickle.

Thank you Mr Veritas for the info. Poor IAP. Sounds awful. I've suffered with depression twice in my life caused by bullys at work and neighbours from hell. I'm currently on a course of accupuncture for stress and anxiety which I get quite often and it seems to be working.

I do hope he gets better Mr V. xxx
Am shocked to read of this medication. It makes me feel manic enuf to get a 'cattle prod' & poke it up the barbaric psycho's. I knew someone having this treatment who died at 35y - she was forced to abort her babe which turned her manic.

This treatment has got to be stopped!
This thread has really brought tears to my eyes. I didn't realize that they still did that. Shocking.

Hello tigger, just popping by & read this thread.

Mr V, please pass on my very best wishes to IAP. He's always been one of the nicest fellas on this site. I only wish there were more like him....

I do hope he gets well soon, although depression can be a very diffcult thing to overcome.

Bless you IAP. -xx-
Oh please wish him well from me. We always joked cos my dog is called Pickles. Poor man, hope he feels better soon x
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx and hugs to him from me

mr veritus how is his partner coping with all this

as i know they are close xxxxxxxxxxx

tell mr p a big kiss from me xxxxx
ECT is still a well established NHS treatment for severe mental/depressive illness. There are in excess of 70 ECT clinics managed by NHS Trusts around the UK so I'm not quite sure who the medics are who claim ECT is no longer performed.
