My recipe states to use either vegetable or beef stock. For anyone who makes it, which is better to use tastewise? Obviously we're not vegetarians!

Hi Chazza i would always add beef stock gives it better taste and colour!!!
beef stock for def, i havent made this for ages.......
beef stock

i never use to like french onion soup until I tried a homemade one in a french bistro - OMG!
The canned stuff is pants but I make my own and the whole family enjoy it with toasted french bread with melted cheese......Mmmmmmmm

gonna have to make some soon
I'd always use beef stock. Somehow a good French onion soup just wouldn't look right with a light coloured stock.
