I have just been watching the latest Jamie Oliver advert for Sainsburys, the one where he makes lamb hamburgers.

For a family of 4, he uses only 1 packet of lamb mince??!!!
And he produces like 8 burgers from this mince.

Do you think this is feasible?? or is Sainsburys pulling the wool over our eyes!!

I reckon for my family I would have to buy 2 packets of mince!!!!

I usually reckon on a LB/500gms mince for 4. Maybe I,m just tight. I don't know what the rest of the recipe involves, but if you bulk it out with granary rolls and salad, this is enough protein for 4, Frankie
Doesn't he mix it with a load of breadcrumbs ?
Or am I thinking of another recipe?

But the burgers are real whoppers!!!

And this is their dinner, just burgers and nothing else??

Was there any chips or wedges??
Mr Oliver is right when he does all the
portion control ..also the meat will be
bulked out with other ingredients ..
and what ever you are having with it
will fill you up .
He has wedges with it - see here
No problem with one packet of mince for the burgers to feed four. I only buy 500gm of mince for burgers, meat balls, spag. bol, etc. for four people. However, the veg. portions in that recipe wouldn't feed a rabbit, let alone four people.
Is it really that difficult to feed a family of four for a fiver that they have to make such a deal out of it?

Back to the lamb mince, I'd be using burger buns to pad it out (on offer, 18 buns in total for a quid).

I picked up one of the recipe cards a while ago for the 5 thing in sainsburys, and only got round to reading it last night.

There is a list of ingredients that you have to buy, then at the bottom there is a "from your cupboard" list, ie stuff that you also need but that is not included in the list of stuff to buy for 5!

And it's not all stuff everyone would have in the cupboard, some of it were unusual herbs etc!
I watched the advert & only saw 4 burgers being served & the wedges
