Apple Trees and Khasakstan

I was watching QI the other night (or a re-run of one of the programmes) and they said the first apple tree to be brought into the UK was from Khasakstan.

Can some one confirm if this is correct and if so provide me with a website for evidence?

The wild apple, which originated in the Tien Shan mountains on the borders of what are now Kazakhstan and China, was first domesticated by man, and brought along the Silk Road to Europe
