You could try showering, washing your hair and wearing clean clothes. It works for me.
Bathe thoroughly, obviously, and make sure you drink as much water before you got to bed as possible. the stale smell is the toxins exiting your body through your pores, so if you can manage to get a bath or shower and change of clothes during the day, it will help the situation.

I do have to assure you I'm scrupulously clean! I always wear clean clothes, and wash thoroughly.
I did not wish to infer that you were anything other than a clean person - the point I made is that the excretion of the toxins from your night out need over-and-above hygene routines. So as I suggested, you could try for a second bath and change during the day, in addition to the bath and change you take as a matter of course every morning.
I know exactly what you mean headtime. After a heavy night on the booze, even if I feel quite good the next day, after showering, bathing, and showering again, I can still smell of booze. It's as if it comes out my pores. I find drinking plenty of water does help a bit though
I've worked with alcoholics (I know this may seem in bad taste, sorry) but one guy always used to say that he hid the smell of alcohol by eating fresh oranges. The citrussy smell apparently covers it up. But I've never tried it myself - always forget to buy oranges before I go out on the tear!
yup - eat smelly stuff (onions, garlic) so you smell of that instead! or perfume, deo, mouthwash, sit by an open window.
just have a bloody good curry then youll just stink you can always say the booze was a sideline hee hee

3 Stars to you all, although just for the record, I am neither an alcoholic nor medically averse to the benefits of soap and a shower.

It's just on the odd occasion I've ventured into work in an un-tip-top condition, I've been worried that traces of my enjoyment the night before, may be hanging around the folowing day!

And I reckon that abstinance is better than curry, garlic or onions.
try drinking something other than beer. that's the worst stink i think
Various ways to hide the stink as people have pointed out. Harder to hide bloodshot eyes, bad moods and poor work though. Iused to think I had people conned but most people notice even if you think you have suceeded in hiding it.
