Yellow-orange Cucumbers?

I have been gardening for several years and have not seen this before. I am trying to grow pickling cucumbers, but it is not working out. They start out nearly 2" in diameter and quickly grow to 8" in length and are nearly orange in color. I am watering normally and using little fertilizer. The plants look normal. What is going on?

If they are true pickling cukes, then, at 8" in length you are allowing them to overmature. Any overmature cucumber will turn yellow or orangish. A mature pickling cucmber shouldn't be allowed to be more than 4 or 5 inches in length. It's difficult to overwater a cucumber and it sounds like you fertilizing is about correct... easy on the nitrogen though... 10-10-10 is about right...
