is there any difference in cooking food in a ceramic dish to a metal dish?

Yes, metal conducts heat better. You should never cook pastry in a ceramic dish because it will be both tough and soggy at the same time. It matters less for e.g. chicken joints in the oven because the temperature is less critical.


Ceramic is far easier to clean!
