dot.hawks and spudqueen: have tried all searches of genealogy sites but have turned up nothing.Lily's birthdate is unknown, but her death date is 10 July,1937.and is buried in Southend Bourough Cemetry. Grave No.3487. David's Death date is March 14, 1922. Same cemetry andGrave No.After 4 months of searching , this is all I can find so I am hoping someone in England can help me.

bloody hell my husband's granddad is buried in the same cemetary, he lived in Heygate Avenue just across from the shopping centre in Southend! My ex hubby was born in the same house small wrkld eh?! Died 1952. anyway, you need to search the 1901 cesus for Southend for david Purcell, what age was he when he died? just do the maths and u will know what aghe he was on the census, if you know his age at death it is quite easy to trace hiom on the census returns and then in the civil registration index for birth and marriage.

dot.hawkes--it truly is a small world. What was your husband's granddad's last name? Thanks a million. Other names that are relative to my search are Clutterbuck, Melville[from Middlesex] and Davidson. Do you also know how I can trace the history of---The 19th Queen Alexandra'sOwn Royal Hussars.

There's some info here about the Regiment and it may be a good place to start (the name's in a different order so you may have better luck looking for it under that name.)

THE CORBYLOON----Thank You for the heads up on the MIlitary Addresses,it has been an enormous help.
Edward Vincent, I have a picture of the grave I took in 1991, they lived at 68 Heygate Avenue. Southend and then moved to Leigh On Sea in the mid 1950s
Question Author

dot.hawkes---Thanks for the name. My husband's grandmother lived there also as a child. Her name was Edith Rose Purcell. Her mother was the Lily Bell that I was looking for information on.Her father David Purcell, her brother Charles Purcell, and Her Mother Lily [bell] Purcell are all buried there. Chances are they knew Edward Vincent.I will ask Edith's brother ,who is still living ,if he remembers him
