After watching something on the news today regarding fast food chain, Wendy's, the reporter advised that Wendy's is the 3rd biggest fast food outlet in America.

Assuming that good old McDonalds is number 1, does anyone know who is number 2?

Burger King...

It will be either KFC or TacoBell.

My moneys on KFC

Aren't KFC and Taco Bell linked in some way? They share the same buildings most of the time.

A source tracking market trends states the following:

Historically, Burger King has been the second-largest burger chain in North America, behind McDonald's. However, Burger King's revenues and market share have declined in the early 2000s, and projections now have it falling to third-place behind Wendy's in US hamburger market share in the near future. Burger King has been closing underperforming stores and changing its marketing strategy in order to turn its fortunes around.

Not sure it's who you think. I was in Texas a couple of years ago and remember seeing and talking about a report that Subway (the sandwich shop) had more outlets than McD.

I know Subway have over 24,000 outlets, but as the businesses mentioned are all franchises I suppose the target is moving!

yes KFC and Taco Bell are linked, we had the numbers and all the shop codes and double in staff advertising when i worked in KFC
