Poached Eggs

This morning, I had two poached eggs on toast and very nice they were too.

I had seen a hack on Tic Tok which suggested putting a sieve in a saucepan of bubbling water and dropping two eggs into the sieve. This I did. The eggs cooked beautifully and were delicious. However, the Tic Tok hack did not tell me how to remove the concrete-like egg white from the tiny holes in the sieve!

Any suggestions, apart from using a cocktail stick to push it out of the hundreds of holes?

What a pain!

A new sieve - and don't do it again?

Dishwasher?

Old toothbrush?

some fairy liquid in the sieve to soak in and then pour boiling water through?

Did you think something else was going to happen?

And what purpose did the sieve serve?

I've got some brick acid if you want to give it a try?

I'd have suggested a toothbrush also.

I keep all our old toothbrushes.  They have multiple uses in homes garages and workshops!

A new sieve - and don't do it again?

put the empty sieve back in the boiling water on the hob, add a splash of washing up liquid and boil for 30 seconds?

Or just put the sieve upside down under the tap with the water at full blast.

In practice though I just put it under the tap and scrub it with my bristle brush with the water runnning

Your answer made me laugh, Naomi. Thank you.

Also thanks to everyone else for your helpful answers. A good soak and a scrub seems to have sorted the problem.
