I just tried to initiate a topical discussion in News, attacked by the trolls. I hope the editors soon start to see what is happening.

I did the same last week after being told I should try posting something if I wasn't happy with the way it was going. Same thing happened to me - the trolls started to try to intimidate so I just went back to keeping off the News section.

Well it isn’t AnswerBank any longer on so many levels. Most of the good contributors have left . I was a regular for a few year around 10 years ago and it was a good place to come for some friendly banter. It’s now very old fashioned , out dated a bit dusty like an old hotel that’s seen better days, with management that really does’t care. It will fizzle out I think. All that will be left is the spamming and a few stalwart moderators patrolling the threads like captain mainwaring.

I did Tora. Some tried to use it to link to issues they think are more important. Annoying, frustrating and rather pathetic, but also not trolling. Unfortunately, it's something many people on both sides of the political fence on AB do.

I know Tora, but the political norm nowadays is to kick someone when they're down. Right now the left smell blood so they're all about sticking the boot in. Before then it was the SNP. Next time it will probably be Labour.

SAB was only toxic if you took it seriously. A case of if you can’t take the heat keep outa the kitchen. I never contributed but found it all quite amusing.

In its present form I will not miss Answerbank when it closes as I believe it will. Recently the editors were asking for newcomers to join and also asked for donations. Neither of these two request resulted in what the editors wanted or indeed need. This site is being taken over by trolls and if anybody still doesn't understand what a troll is, here is a dictionary definition.
" A troll is Internet slang for a person who intentionally tries to instigate conflict, hostility, or arguments in an online social community."
This definition describes a number of members of this site who have turned a few categories in general and the news category in particular, into a baiting arena instead of what it once was, a debating area. For Answerbank to continue this will have to change, people will not join a site to be ridiculed and also pay for the privilege, we are not that stupid. These trolls have turned the news section into a puerile shambles with their nonsense of turning every subject posted into a post about Boris Johnson, Brexit or their prophesised demise of the UK.
These people do not want to debate a subject, they only want to prove, mainly to themselves, how clever they think they are. Get rid of them Ed before this, once excellent question and answer site becomes a distant memory.

I was looking forward to reading TTT's North Korea thread but that was soon changed by the usual suspects ruining it. No wonder I spend only a fraction of the time I used to on AB.
