Hi I have a trail camera that I want to power by an external battery
It needs 6volts 2amps, I can only find 6volt 4amps will the extra 2amps damage the camera , any other advice would be greatly appreciated

4 amps is the maximum that it can provide. If your device needs 2 amps then that's what it will draw. You can always use a battery or power supply with a higher current (amp) rating than required. Never use one with a higher voltage rating.
The Chair is absolutely right. You need a power source which provides the right voltage and AT LEAST the number of amps. Too many volts can result in the camera being destroyed, too few and it might not work properly.
