can you get food poisoning from cooking in a cast iron pot that is not properly "sealed"?

No worries on the food poison as long as it is clean. They need to be sealed to A) prevent from rusting & B) To help food from sticking

i had a new wok and a bit inside the bottom got burned off, so the black coating melted and revealed the silver/metal underneath. my sis said throw it away, is this right?
