Went to stay with a friend once and she boils eggs in the microwave and i`ve seen it done. You wrap it in tin foil and put it in a mug of water and put it in the microwave.
Boil the water in a kettle, pour in to a bowl. Add salt to the water, crack the egg in to the bowl, cover and leave for 5 minutes. You should have a perfect poached egg
It's not simply a ban on metal in the microwave, it's about avoiding folds and pointy bits where the sparks form. Maybe around an egg shape and under water it is less likely to flash ?
