Gordon Ramsay. Do you women ABers agree with our celebrity cook?. My mum was a great cook and by that i mean she could cook many different things and they tasted the same (and excellent) every time, so i knew what i was getting for dinner. None of your 'hit and miss, lets see whats in the kitchen cupboard malarkey' club that Mrs Dom Tuk is a fully paid life member of.

"I've been visiting ladies' houses up and down the country with our film crew and you would be amazed how little cooking the girls are doing," the chef said ahead of the launch of his latest television show.

A quote from the BBC story on this subject there, my emphasis. Man with something to sell makes contentious comment to generate news coverage shocker! There's probably a genuine fact about the changing nature of who does the cooking and what people eat in there somewhere, but it's just dressed up as gender politics to inflame debate and promote his show, isn't it?

Publicity seeking Celebrity Chef in Sexist outburst shocker!!! Which Chef?

Publicity seeking Celebrity Chef in outburst at governement school diners shocker!!! Which Chef?

Seems to me like there isn't enough space in the media for too many celeb chefs!  I say we have a cull!

P.s. To answer your Q? Dom I think he is talking rubbish (as usual).

sorry waldo-cross post!

the fact that people don't cook much is not about not being able to but having different priorities (PS Dom Tuk has your mum slapped your legs yet??)

...agree with Waldo and Ned on this one!

i am 25, female and love to cook, my boyfriend loves my cooking as does everyone else who i have cooked for, and i wasnt taught by some foul mouthed chef who charges stupid prices for what amounts to a saucer sized plate of food.
I have to say I ate lunch at a Ramsay restaurant once - sat at the table in the kitchen - it went on till 5pm, about 10 courses - and it was just superb. (Someone else was paying.) And the chocs marketed under his name are nice too. But he talks like a wally. Just publicity I think, as Waldo and Ned have said. DT, I take it Mrs DT doesn't read your posts? You are going the right way to have a cauldron wrapped around your ears.
nedflanders - If we have a cull of chefs, then we'll get overrun by gardeners and antiques dealers.

total publicity stunt, but it just goes to show that as soon as men start doing anything they soon believe they are the best at doing it. A few more things I think men should start taking a hand to:

1. Hoovering
2. Giving Birth
3. Cleaning up the kitchen after they've cooked

On a more serious note, the ladies in my family are perfectly capable of making nice meals.

I think also that it's a publicity stunt, he hasn't ruffled feather for a while now.

If he is serious, then that's a huge generalisation he's made.  There are much men out there who are no use at cooking and likewise there is as much women out there who can cook.

Total media hype. After umpteen years of married life, cooking for a living ,cooking and more cooking I am bored to tears with it and it is just another chore for me.People who go out to work all day want something quick and easy when they get home and don't all have Mummy to cook for them.Even now I am retired and have more time to mess about cooking I cannot summon up a lot of interest.
If Gordon wants to come round here and cook me a meal he is very welcome. He can F and blind to his hearts content as long as he gets some grub on the table!

Publicity stunt - agreed!

Also, I shall state my opinion briefly for once (*waits for ABers to pick themselves up off the floor after their fainting fits*) -

I bloomin HATE sweeping generalisations, and this is a classic!!!!

If women can't cook then they should bloody learn to, A man has enough to contend with is this world and the kitchen should certainly be "her" domain. That is as long as there are not too many gadgets that require a bit of common sense and application. A good old fashioned saucepan and conventional oven should do the trick.

All that aside though, I pay for a housekeeper who can can cook like Keith Floyd on heat. She's great.

WM, what's your secret with women????

Down to my pheremones dear boy.
Don't you mean "rohypnol" WM?
JB please stop posting your fantasies on here. There are dedicated websites for you, you know. Hope your trip to Manchester was, lets say, fulfilling.

Well, I wouldn't know yet WM - it's NEXT weekend.  But thanks anyway, it could well turn out to be.  And hopefully I won't need too drug him first... JOKE! :-p

Much as people have weird fantasties, I really don't think ANYONE would dream of being date-raped, WM, even by you!!!

The second part was also a joke, although, as a disclaimer, I do understand that rape is not a laughing matter.

(Spot the wannabe lawyer!)

Did anyone read the Clement Freud article on this subject, in the Daily Mail?.
