I don't want to get in to an argument about religion here, but ive been in a psychiatric hospital with people who bob up and down while facing a wall. I find it very peculiar.

Believing in any form of god isn't 'normal'. (It's totally insane). So it's hardly surprising that when actions which follow on from such a belief are also nowhere near to 'normal' (whatever that might mean anyway).

Already stated I don't want to get in to a religious argument about it jno, otherwise I would have posted in R&S,
I'm genuinely find it odd. I can understand the significance of most religious rituals but not this

it's not a ritual as such, Nailit. The bobbing isn't part of it. Most people just stand there as they pray, but maybe this guy was feeling specially fervid.

As you probably know, this isn't inside a church, it's a large stone wall, on a big public square, where Solomon's temple once stood. People pray individually, it's not part of a religious service.

What a very good question........I have no idea why the Jews rock backwards and forwards at the wailing wall.
Why the wailing wall?
Why rock backwards and forwards.
Is it normal? Normal being do the rest of the population, Jews or gentiles pray in that manner.......then the answer is no, it is NOT normal.
Are they under some stress, anxiety etc......? I think they probably are and it may well be that the people who need religion are indeed insecure and may follow such "wailing traditions"
Animals who have been removed from their natural environment and are imprisoned.....rock backwards and forwards.
Is this the same with Jews? Do they feel imprisoned...are they under constant mental pressure?
