Why is my M&S pork pie 'not suitable for freezing'.

Is it not the same as any other meat pie?

I don't want to eat it and I don't want to waste it.

Sorry, it is still wrapped.

Lunch tomorrow, I think.

Thank you all.
I'm sure it will be fine tomorrow. 'Use by' dates must give a little leeway.
I'd have it with some Branston Tilly ..
Question Author
I'm sure you're right, Naomi. Lunch tomorrow then.

Wish me luck.
I agree with you kandro...yes Tilly ..that`s lunch sorted tomorrow..Enjoy!!!
Tilly, you won't need luck. Enjoy your lunch.
Question Author
No, not Branston, HereIam. That will kill the taste of the salmonella. :-)

I'll give it to Mr T when he comes home from bowling. He'll eat it.

What a shame it won't freeze well.
Lol.
Eating old porkpie can bring on the onset of plague, Tilly. I've got some black paint for the spot on your door.... Bring out yer dead...:-)
Question Author
It's not an old pork pie.....yet.

Anyway, I'm not eating it. I'm going to give it to Mr T, for his afternoon snack.
He's always hungry when he's played bowls.

I really wanted to freeze it.
Question Author
I have a black, shiny front door. The paint needs to be a different colour, Melv.
....nothing to do with the pork having been previously frozen (it's been cooked since it was frozen so that argument is not relevant)...it's all to do with texture. I think you'll find that both the hot-water crust pastry and the pork and jelly filling won't be all that palatable, texture-wise.
Question Author
Thanks, Gingejbee. That makes sense.

Shame, though. :-(
Some amusing answers on here. I often eat food from supermarkets after the sell by dates but pork pies are not one of then and freezing them will make the pastry soggy and it will be completely tasteless. Not a good idea
Question Author
I have realised that, Gollob. It will be eaten tomorrow.

My dad has put the fear of God in me in regards to pork pies. He never eats a piece of pork pie without sniffing it first.

I've never frozen a pork pie, Tilly......but I'd cut it in half.......eat half now and freeze the other half as an experiment.....defrost it next week and let us know how it is in taste and texture......so we know whether or not to freeze them......x
I'm baffled as to the point of this thread. The 'use by' date is tomorrow, you're going to feed it to your husband tomorrow, what's the issue?
Question Author
Good idea, Gness. I might just do that. Watch this space.
Thank you. x
Question Author
Jackdaw, the point of the thread is, can you successfully freeze a pork pie?

We don't really want to eat it as we are stuffed to the gills, neither do we want to throw it out for the birds.

Gness' idea is a good one. Eat half, at a push and freeze half.
because it's been frozen before,it's delivered frozen and defrosted in store
