If prunes are dried plums surely that means that the juice has already been removed, so where does prune juice come from?

hehe, I'm gonna be up all night now working that one out!
The French call Plums 'Prunes'. So maybe it just means plum juice?
I think maybe the manufacturers of cans/tins of prunes cook/soak/steep the prunes in a syrup mixture, which may (or may not ) impart whatever "goodness"may still be salvageable, If the reason you ask this question is for Laxative reasons, may I suggest you try dried Figs OR dried Apricots,to assist bowel movements. I have a serious constipation problem due to Parkinsons disease recently diagnosed I am concerned about developing a "lazy bowel" because of regular use of pharmaceutical drugs . i.e -Docusate. I am also prescribed sachets of Macrogol/Laxido which do help but can easily cause severe diahorrea if used too regularly, I have to learn to find the right balance. I would also be grateful for any advice. Good luck to you.
