What you having for breakfast?
Do you prefer rabbits or guinea pigs? (not for breakfast, obviously)
The way the moderation on here is going, this will be the only sort of discussion allowed.

I expect this thread will get pulled also. Threads about deleted threads using disappear. It is very bad practice to let a thread get to 82 posts before it is pulled. A lot of people have wasted a lot of their time by that stage. Individual posts can go, but ALL posts is wrong.

I'm presuming the ABed wasn't about yesterday. Please get to grips with the sort of over-moderation that afflicted the site yesterday.
Morning Svejk xx
Also, don't forget those ABers for whom the AB is their main social life and post on just about every thread just to get their profile points sky high.

I agree about some of the inane topics

BTW, what are you having for brekkie ?? xx

It's a free world. And I know some people just like a 'chit-chat', as do I at times. But, personally, I wouldn't like it if that was all we had. If you know what I mean.
half past two ! ...lol
sat here thinking about a cuppa and should it be toast or cereal for brekkie. i'm not particularly interested so I don't expect anyone else to be. just think this is lot more important to some than others. maybe one day that will be us.
I presume you are referring to OG post yesterday Svejk, I think it was a very good post & topic for discussion but what happens, it was no sooner on that Bang, it went, for what reason? "Your Heading" Becoming a Joke! You have it in one.
scrambled eggs
rabbits
I don’t think Svejk is complaining about people who discuss their breakfast or their guinea pigs – I think he’s saying that, due to excessive moderation, that is all we’ll end up with here because too many posts, and often whole threads containing posts that people have given time and diligence to construct are deleted. I’ve no objection whatsoever to chit-chat, but I’m tired of posters who seemingly with their fingers poised permanently over the ‘report’ button’, bang on about ‘offence’ and ‘the rules’. I’m convinced that many of the ‘guilty’ posts are far beyond the comprehension of those with the power to ‘zap’ and depending upon the identity of the poster, they seem to be zapped to order – one complaint is enough. Excessive and inconsistent moderation has lost the site a lot of genuine ‘brains’ which is a great pity – but like those now absent, I’m past caring really. It’s all become very childish.
poached guineau pig.
The debates are generally good until they off track and accusations start flying around about who reported who or a small number of posters start to become personal.
The News section has gone more and more that way, I think. Posters seem to respond to who posted, instead of what was posted and ends up a debate about how to debate every time. Maybe ok in CB, but I don't think it works in News.
In news section most posters have entrenched views and feel passionate about their beliefs but it doesn't take much for the discussion to become personal or nitpicking or for some of those with opposing views describing their opponents as idiots/EDL members or yogurt eating/ tree hugging lefties.
I enjoy many discussions and join in until they become silly but recognise that it's pointless expecting anyone to change their views based on what's said
Yes, exactly. It isn't the views that are the problem, it's the personal comments.
that is leading to the demise of the appeal of AB. There needs to be
Melon, strawberries, Black Forest ham, with lots of black pepper and a sprinkling of balsamic, and a slice of toast!
a higher standard of moderation to get at this - but not the content (unless really offensive etc).
//It isn't the views that are the problem, it's the personal comments. //

People here are, in the main, adults - allegedly. They should be able to deal with it.
If it's news you're on about you'd be better off discussing dogs.

They cause more problems than domestic rabbits or guinea pigs and who would want to put them in a cage?

Wild rabbits not good for plants or crops.

I come on here mainly for X-words, even there at the moment it's getting very dull, ok it may be due to decent weather getting people out and about that the numbers are down, but the number of times you go to answer a question and find it has been asked and answered hours or often days beforehand and it's just someone building their answer tally is increasing at a rate of knots.
There are also an increasing number of posters using Xwords as a Chat site which means Latest posts keep showing questions to be answered when in fact it's just another 'what did you have for breakfast thread'

Naomi- maybe adults should be able to deal with personal comments but I come in News section to see a good debate on topical items but am not interested when it becomes a personal debate and people start calling each other racists/idiots etc
