Was in my local butcher just to buy meat but ended up buying a whole cooked chicken. Had some breast which was lovely but went to give Mr Harv a little and found the leg was rather pink.

I now have it in oven to cook even more. Are yous happy with a cooked chicken?

I don't buy them often for that reason but it will be my last. I usually cook my own but they looked scrumptious.
I would have difficulty finishing the whole chicken by myself but I've bought cooked pieces before now and that was fine. Many many years ago I recall my mother used to buy a 'garlic' chicken for dinner for the family each Saturday. Nice, never had a problem with any of them.

Well OG - I certainly won't be eating whole chicken but when I am happy with the colour, will dissect it and freeze.

On the subject of food - will never ever be buying prawns - have come to conclusion they all taste like rubber bands in a sauce.
Do you remember when they had them roasting in a big glass sided oven and the aroma was wafted all along the street?
It might have made a vegetarian forget his principles.

Sandy that is where my chicken came from.
Prawns are only popular because they come in a Marie Rose sauce :-)
I'm sure they must be good for you though.

I don't think rubber bands are good for you AOG LOL

sorry OG
There used to be one of those ovens in a shop in Castle St. Come to think of it, I haven't seen any for a while.

Smell of chicken is wafting up to the computer room Sandy - wish you were here LOL

They are knocking about Sandy - you know the main supermarkets do them too - you should see them at the delicatessen/butchery.
I'll buy a half of one the next time I'm shopping
Yes, I buy cooked chicken - sometimes we eat it hot, at the moment I have two cold roast chicken legs in the fridge, ready for a salad.

Prawns - I love prawns, but I tend to buy the bigger ones now. The little shrimps don't tast of anything.
The roast chickens in our local Morrisons are revolting .Dry as a nuns whatnot ,although their cold sliced chicken breast from the deli counter is really nice.
I only ever buy prawns and shellfish from the fishmonger.
The fish and shellfish from our Morrisons (surprisingly, fish) counter is very good!
Supermarket prawns are tasteless. Fishmonger ones are lovely.
Well... I guess it depends on many things. The tiger prawns and langoustines we had last week from Morrisons were delish.
I tend to buy the little Atlantic prawns...ever since seeing several programs about the way big prawns are farmed. Put me off them for a while. :-(
Was going to add...jj- marinate your prawns in garlic, chilli and olive oil...they'll have some taste then.
