Was talking to a man yesterday in the park and he was saying he gets lovely fish from Lidl - he couldn't spell it but what I could understand - it was something like this "BiannyGom" - anybody have any idea as I have just enquired from Lidl. They have never heard of it. Thanks

They have frozen pollock, plus basa in sauce, along with the usual cod, haddock lemon fin sole and salmon. Apart from pollock, all are delicious.

they also have sea-bass too. I just was mystified.
Is it the Vietnamese Catfish.

Comes in various names Pangasius , Panga, River Cobbler, Basa etc

Horrible by the way !

I don't know Emeritus. That is the way he pronounced it cos I asked him to repeat it several times.

Just read your last line - "horrible". I am quite fussy about fish - don't think I will bother now.
Just my opinion, it does seem to sell well as its fairly cheap.
There was some controversy a few years ago about basa/river cobbler etc coming from very polluted waters. Not sure how true this is,or of its been sorted. I've never wanted to try it.
I don't like fresh water fish it always tastes muddy. I only like sea fish.
I like Lidl's yellow-fin sole (frozen...oven bake).
I've eaten quite a bit of river cobbler recently and it can't come from polluted waters, or me and my other head would be ill.
basa is very tasty.
