I have a throat lined with barbed wired and am coughing like a good 'un, and I'm home alone.

Cooking for just for me is not filling my heart with joy while I'm feeling grim so I picked up a ready meal.

As my throat is sore anything abrasive doesn't appeal. I had a fancy for spinach & ricotta cannelloni......what a mistake.

Once I'd got it onto the plate it looked like a plate of sick, hmmm appetising.

I have been unable to discern any particular flavours.

The overwhelming experience has been of eating raw flour in the cheese sauce.

In future I will make sure I freeze the odd single portion of home cooked food, supermarket stuff is duff!

I'm in two minds wether I should send a grumble to the supermarket or just accept that ready meals are pants?

when I make anything like pasta..bolognaise..curry, chilli...I always freeze two portions then when I can't be bothered it's there to toss in microwave..but then..I AM a domestic godess......not...lol...
I used to take low calorie ready meals to work but I have given up because they are all so bad. Sainsbury`s curries aren`t bad though.

TRT, I like to vary my diet and as I'm feeling grotty I'm seeking comfort food that suits my frame of mind and grottiness.

However crappy I feel tomorrow I will find some real food, be it in the freezer or after a trip to the shop.

blimey this sounds like man-flu ....you feel as tho you gonna die !
take paracetamol
your sense of taste will come back as your nose clears
I'm surprised, we often buy ready-meal cannelloni, I like it.... but if it's not up to scratch, do complain to Waitrose, you might have been sold a duff batch.
I keep a bag of spinach and ricottal tortellini..dried and jar of green pesto .both from Aldi for comfort food...or.....a big bag of maltesers ! hope you feel better sooooon..xxx
Chop off as much as you want from your freezer meal & nuke

I don't have a microwave, so no nuking!
what a lot of domestic goddesses on here :) I on occasion have ready meals, some are ok. some tasty. some not so good..............they do the job, they are convenient, not everyone has the time /inclination to cook from scratch every day.
I am quite partial to the sainsburys own chicken tikka masala ready meals - I don't actually ever order this when I have an actual curry. Sometimes I get the take away box for two (for both of us, not just for me!) :c)
I eat lots of ready meals, Tesco finest of course. Their King Prawn Spaghetti is to die for. I eat 2 a week if I can get them.
I agree with China about the Sainsbury's Indian takeaway boxes. They are lovely.
My lot don't like ready meals which is quite good as they work out expensive for us. I eat ready made cauliflower cheese and potato gratin (not at the same time though) - about the only 'proper' food I eat.
it's Waitrose Eccles, complain - they do listen. And I never remember to freeze anything in individual portions either.

sherr, what's improper food then?
Humber, I make the family eat vegetables, etc and they have to try at least one new dish a week. I am currently eating a lot of bacon (and Crunchies), I hideously fussy and faddy with food.
I don't like ready meals at all but have to agree with CD about the CTM, it's very nice, and I would never order it from a curry house :)
That particular 'ready meal' was especially made for you.
You chose it...
You must be poorly bless ya, I hope you get well soon.
lol sherr, I'm sure if you could perfect a deep fried, battered bacon-wrapped crunchie, you'd be on a winner

actually, isn't there one of those invent a crisp flavour and win a million quid competitions going on??
a deep fried, battered bacon-wrapped crunchie
... I'm in love, where?
I'm not a fan of ready meals at all. I understand why people buy them but not for me thanks. I would fire off an email to them Eccles, they may send you a voucher for another spinach & ricotta cannelloni! ;) x
