Should I be scared?

We're going to Brick Lane tonight. You know, in East London? For a curry.

Yes, we're 'avin a "Bricky".

Gal pals who work in the City claim it's the "only" place to go for a good curry.

That seems a bit of an exaggeration.

Actually, I suppose I mean a "Ruby". I must practice my London talk.

Gor blimey, guvnor. 'Ave you got a Betty Grable for eight? I'm 'Ank Marvin.

I can do this. I can carry this off.

(big breaths ... phoo, phoo, phoo)

So what plans have we all got?

Well I shall be having the re-heated remains of last nights "Ruby".

And trying to finish some work before I ship off to Italy.

And firstly, mopping up the glass of wine I just knocked over the advice I had just printed.
Gawed don't get in such a 2 and 8 !!
I don't think knowing the lingo is obligatory these days, JJ, it's pretty multicultural in Brick Lane!
you certainly have a choice: there are dozens of curry houses there. They're chiefly Bangladeshi (the Huguenot weavers having moved on) and may be unaware of the cultural importance of Mr Marvin and Ms Murray. The clientele will be city types like your pals rather than barrow boys, who will all be at home in the Essex mansions by then.

Italy, BM?

Crikey. Watch out for Giuliano Mignini !!
I think you've find, too, that your Bricky terminology could well be misconstrued :-) http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=bricking%20it

One likes to try to fit in.

Oh, cripes, Boxy ... !

I've muffed it already.

:0(

Glad you pointed that one out.

"Bricking it" eh?
JJ - I think you'd better look up Muff in the Urban Dictionary too..... :-)
Question Author
Surely that's different, Boxy?
Yes, Italy (and France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Belgium - but mainly Italy). I'm not worried about Mignini, I've got my Grandad with me. And he beat the Germans ;)
Different to what....?
Question Author
Yu should be safe then, BM

Boxy ... I mean " muff" must be different from "muffed it" ?
We're having a curry tonight as well. Local Indian restaurant, absolutely fabulous food.
I predict a bricky is the exact opposite of what you'll be having tomorrow morning, following a dawn chorus.
Question Author
I may need to Google that.
Question Author
I think I'd be happier going somewhere local.
Home cooked Indian tonight, only trouble is I can't remember which dish Mr Cake requested last night so it isn't going to have very long marinating :-(

Enjoy your Brick Lane experience. If you fancy something a bit more upmarket Tamarind in Mayfair is awesome!
If you see a bloke with a busted ankle, give him a hug from me, please jj
Question Author
Oh, I love Tamarind. Just round the corner from Berkeley Square, yes?

Much more the sort of place I'd choose if it was my shout.
