can anyone please give me a quick and easy recipe using sugar and butter to make a toffee or caramel sauce before i murder someone !!!! lol

I make a "butterscotch" sauce using 8oz butter, 12 oz soft brown sugar and some double cream but the cream is optional. Just put the butter and sugar in a pot and cook slowly until the sugar dissolves. :)
