I take it you've tried it.
Chili con carne, lasagne, cottage pie, anything you would use mince for in a sauce (not burgers or meatballs)
oh yes, tried the original and several new and improved versions
Definitely bin it.
Throw it away
Don't throw it away. Make a spaghetti bolognese with it and I promise you, you will never buy it again.
Most of the reviews seem to agree that it's OK if you just treat it as a filler as it has no taste of its own.
Cook it like you would minced beef - cottage pie, spag bol, lasagne are all fab with quorn. I like to grate in a little carrot and courgette as well.
>>>Cook it like you would minced beef

Not true.

Quorn does not have to be cooked for as long as beef, in fact if you do then it goes all mushy and looks awful.

Quorn only neeeds putting in a bolognese or chilli at the end after you have cooked all the other ingredients (onions, peppers etc). It only need to cook for 10 or 15 minutes.

Cooking it in the oven in a bolognese sauce or chilli for a hour or more is totally the wrong thing to do.
My O.H. had some quorn mince several years ago, became ill with stumach pains,
was ill for ages until diagnosed as coeliac disease. We have blamed the high strength gluten in quorn ever since. Its just a substance flavoured with anything you want it to taste like. BIN IT.
VHG - yes, OK, fair enough. It's ages since I've cooked these dishes with anything but Quorn mince (apart from when using Sunday lunch leftovers) that I forgot about the cooking time. Fair cop, guvnor, I'll go away and beat myself now.
Sorry but....bin!
You can do all the things mentioned-just make sure you season it well-it has little taste...and don't overcook!
Bin it!!
its funghi.... bin it

Does anybody want it,I've gone off the idea.
I only use quorn mince these days in an attempt to eat more healthily.
Over Christmas when we had family staying I made a huge lasagne with it, and a shepherd pie, both were delicious and the only comments people made were how tasty these were. I didn't tell anyone they were eating quorn.
Give it a go and see what you think. If you don't like it the you've no need to buy it ever again. However you may think its perfectly acceptable, even quite nice ;)
If I was going to do a lasagne or cottage pie or spag bol and didn't want to use meat, i'd just use loads of real veggies including real mushrooms!
I had quorn sausages and thought they were ok. I have Linda McCartney sausages at the moment and don't think they're as good.
