Shallots instead of onions?

Morning, as above really, I making a sauce for meatballs and only have shallots, will they taste ok?

I think Shallots are much nicer than onions in lots of recipes so use them frequently.
no not everything, just most of it :-)
I tend to put a mix of shallots and onions in most things as the onions round here don't have much flavour any more.
