This could be the ratio of LDL (bad) cholesterol to HDL (good) cholesterol. A ratio of 4.4 is on the low end of "average risk". If it is the ratio of total cholesterol to HDL, then 4.4 is also about normal:

It's pretty good - the GP will look for 5.0 as being an acceptable upper band.
^ however, according to the new cardiac risk assessment tool, they take this reading into account with your other lifestyle factors, history etc., to see if it's worth doing something about. mine was just under 7 and the GP said it was still reasonably low risk, given all the other healthy factors in my life - now it's gone up, I've gone back on medication.
Boxy, excuse me going onto a different subject but I left a message/question for you on my ebay thread from Sunday. Could you take a look please. Thanks.
I have never had my cholesterol checked, is it something most people do ie should I do it if there is no other medical reason to get it checked?
What medication are you on, boxtops?
back on statins, elliemay, much to my dismay, as I didn't get on with them before.
My husband had to go on statins, too, as his level was 9.9! Mine fluctuates a lot.Highest so far has been 6.5. Due to have it done this month but can't be bothered!
I was late going back for mine - it was 9.3 when I got there. Not good.
What do you think put yours up again, boxtops?
