I have bought some tinned kidney beans and recipe only calls for about 1/4 of the tin. Can you freeze them for use later

they will go really mushy but would be ok in a soup or stew
throw them all in kidney beans are yummy
Or why not make an extra large portion of whatever you're making and freeze it.
