Many years ago, when I used to serve onboard ships, we had one particular ship's cook who would serve up hotcakes as part of cooked breakfast. They were like a small pancake - but not a pancake.

I have never seen or heard of them on a menu since and I now have developed a craving for them. Any ideas of what the recipe might be?

Hotcakes and syrup

Kromesky a la russe
Beef a la mode
Apple pie a la mode (with vanilla icecream, complicated if both a la modes served at the same meal)
