I've been thinking about changing my diet to a more healthy one and was going to up my fibre, fruit&veg, fish and lower bad fats and red meat which I heard could be substituted by soya meat. Where is the cheapest place to buy this in bulk, what is the nutrient profile compared to beef and what recipes have you tried and loved using it??

(Sorry for the repost but thought that maybe the h&f section would also be a good place for the question)

I think you can get it in any supermarket or healthfood shop - my daughter is vegan so cooks with it a lot. Be warned though... if Mr M or I eat it it goes straight through us, daughter said it did that with her too but soon settled down.
Have you considered Quorn? To an avid meat eater it does not taste like meat but is a perfectly good substitute. It takes on the flavour of whatever you cook it in, mince with bolognase sauce, quorn pieces with curry, quorn fillet instead of roast, quorn burger. Hardly any fat and high in protein and fibre. Relatively cheap. If you have any allergies check the labels. I had to give up mince when I found out it contains gluten. I now eat soy mince from the health food shop. A kilo bag is plenty big enough. Otherwise no probs but I think some of their products may contain milk.
Warning - Quorn is not vegan
Quorn and soy mince are not the same. Quorn is made from a type of fungus mycoprotein.
Do try it if you wish to lose the will to eat.
