My grandson, Mason, who is three is coming to stay for the weekend, however he is going through a phase of only eating 'white' food. I do pasta with White sauce and rice, potatoes, fish, cauliflower. Anyone got any more suggestions please. Thanks in advance.

how about helping him cook your tea/dinner?

Get out the ingredients for your dinner and let him chop, fry, etc etc
Make it as colourful as you can - peas, carrots, broccoli
Let him help you with filling pans of water, chopping carrots, putting it onto the water to boil up
Have it with chicken or pork as he does eat that and perhaps cheese sauce instead of...

lard
Tell him we don't accept any racist foodies in this house. Then give him a black pudding to chew on. (It does have white bits.)

I reckon he's hoping for ice cream every meal.

Something must have triggered this. Have you asked Mum and/or Dad??

Although, having said which, one of my brothers lived on bread and water for a month. (Weird family)

My cousin only eats crisps. He's nearly 50 now!
Personally I wouldn't give in to his 'phase' I think he's testing his ability to get his own way and you are showing him it's easy. The trouble is if you allow him to control you what will it be next, where will you draw the line? I think Ojread2 has the best idea and trying to encouraging him to eat properly would be a better idea.

I will try this ok, thanks. He does help me to cook, he enjoys doing that, for Christmas I bought him a load of plastic food from the ELC, and he is always playing with that when he is here, cooking meals for me.
It sounds, tbh, as it has only been going on for a couple of weeks and he likes helping to cook that he could just be experimenting with food.

And if he is willing to eat a lot of the things suggested on this thread then he may be getting a more varied diet than a lot or people, including me!

If it continues or he starts to play up well then it may need more serious action but if he is encouraged to try new things, rather than immediately use the "take it or leave it" approach - which may just means he leaves it ! - and helps to cook more etc.. hopefully it will give him a more rounded view of food and eating in general.

And who knows, he may grow up to be the next Heston Blumenthal!
Is blancmange white?
Tripe every meal - he'll soon change his ways.
Tripe Blancmange maybe - definitely Heston Blumenthal!
and he continues to eat white food and ask for white food because you gave into hm in first place. If normal food was placed infront of him from the start he may have missed a few dinners but I bet in the end he would have eaten. Next time make his white food for his meal and then the rest of you have 'coloured' pudding and he when he asks where his is just say you couldnt do him white pudding that night.
@SandyRoe, blancmange can be white if it's vanilla blancmange (not vodka-infused).
Panna Cotta
I wouldn't pander to him - you're setting him up to be a fussy eater.
Never heard such nonsense. Put a wide range of food in front of him and tell him to get on with it.

Better still, get the parents to watch "Supernany" ...........Jo knows how to deal with stupid parents !
Brie, goat's cheese ( the hard one) sounds like he needs sorting out!
Let be and ignore..With respect, this is aimed at the take it or leave it posters, not you, you are grandmother, not Mum and its not up to you to decide how to handle this. As you so rightly say, children do have phases....
