Anyone else here feel like joining a nationwide campaign to stop greedy Tesco taking over the world? Who'd be prepared never to shop there ever again?

what I would love is, if everyone for one day, stopped going into Tesco's. So no-one was in there, just to show them there is -or should be - a limit to how much profit a company needs to make. We're all being fleeced by them, whether you're a customer, staff or supplier. Someone needs to give them a wake up call.

whats tesco done? dont go in there very often but they have some right bargains sometimes....
ok so i just read through... you want people to not shop at tescos because they are springing up all over the place?
I'm not going to say who I work for but it's not a supermarket. Rather more a wholesome, organic, animal welfare focussed, reforming, future looking....group of clients.
Crikey, what's wrong with Tesco ?
They are taking over the world.
chap: apparently they're British and make money.
well there is going to be supermarket blood on the street if they are "taking over the world."

Walmart (Asda) are hell-bent on that too.
Well the reason I stopped shopping there was because I was fed up with poor quality and poor customer service - I'm afraid I'm too selfish to consider their potential world domination.
Diddlydo, when Tesco announced they were dropping the "Race for Life" charity campaign and giving money to the "charity" Gay Rights, I vowed never again to shop in Tesco and I never have. Cutting off my nose to spite my face maybe but I hate their ethics and their greed.

Waitrose is much smaller and friendlier.

And, outside our Waitrose, there's a tree where you can chain your mountain bike.

So I don't mind avoiding Tesco.

Although I do do the occasional online Tesco shop.

Hmm ... I'm not sure now.
same here trigs..... we were without a supermarket here for nearly 5 years until recently, and now tesco have apparently been given the go ahead to build one a stones throw from my house... yayyy is all i can say.
In fairness, maggiebee, people did attempt to correct your misunderstanding of that particular issue.
My Mum is over the moon, they're building a new one in her home town.

I don't understand what was wrong with Tesco changing the charity to a Gay Rights charity.

I still like Tesco.
all retailers are the same, if they are given enough profits they will seek to expand. why single out tesco? because they have succeeded?
I know JTH, but it didn't alter the outcome - less money for cancer research and more for Gay Rights which to my mind isn't a charity. My personal choice and I respect other people's opinions.
maggiebee, the cancer v gay rights charity issue was discussed at length at the time.
As I said to you then, Tesco raised £70 million for CLIC cancer charity and donated £30,000 to sponsor Gay Pride.

So the £70 MILLION means nothing to you? The £30k for Gay Pride would have been very cheap advertising for Tesco.

As I also said, Tesco did not drop CLIC for Gay Pride. It wasn't an 'either or', but a totally different scenario.
I despair that people can be so swayed by red top headlines without looking at the facts.
