How do you make purple food colouring

I have tried mixing red with blue but with unexpected results. So far, I have got a deep olive green and a weird shade of brown! Help! I need to make a purple Moshi Monster tomorrow. Thanks for any suggestions especially if it works.

From vague memory of college,I think it's double the amount of red to blue. Just do it drop by drop to see. Hope you manage it!

magenta pink, and blue

You are probably adding too much blue to the red, you really need a tiny bit to make red into purple.
