Hi
I fancy having some halloumi and was wondering if any of you have got a decent recipe? I don't just want it with salad - it needs to be reasonably substantial as I generally only eat two meals a day so I don't want to be starving tonight. Thanks

oh halloumi! I just griddle it and eat it on its own. The feel of squeak against my teeth and cheese that taste like bacon is my image of heaven!
that's it i'm going to have to go to sains and get some now
I LOVE it. I only ever have it with a sundried tomato, pinenut and leaf salad though. I've got some in the fridge - shame I've already made lunch cos I really fancy that now!
Why not do a stack of grilled halloumi with either courgette or aubergines gently griddled?
triggs - you've got to get with the programme!
I cook lamb mince very dry add chopped onions and some pre moistened cous cous stir it in well with some turmeric, and a tiny pinch of ground cumin... and some chopped fresh coriander and top it with cubes of griddled halloumi nice mint and yoghurt sauce on the side

i really really want to chase you round the office with some squeaky cheese now
Rowan, that sounds delish. I'll have to find a wine to serve with that!
NM.... I normally use a dry normandy cider instead... but would welcome suggestions
There's two on today's wine thread and tbh, either of those would make an excellent accompaniment to anything with a hint of aromatic spice.
no trigger toe posts are the work of the devil
Halloumi is lovely - salty cheese yum yum
fried is best, makes a love taste

i also like to add it to fried mushrooms in a cream cheese and garlic sauce

Hmmm - now need to decide between the roasted veg with halloumi on the link that Mccfluff kindly put on here, or the very exciting idea from Rowanwitch - can't wait.
Thanks for all the replies
I love it but just eat it out of the jar. Never thought to do a meal with it in.
