Has anyone been on this diet and successfully kept the weight off for six months or after they stopped it ? I have a friend who is on this diet and all credit to her the weight has come off but she keeps banging on & on about it , keeps showing me how baggy her clothes are , so I have started to avoid her.Everytime I diet within 6 months weight is back on + more, and I cant afford any "more" as I weigh about 11 stone now, also I am not a heavy boozer but I like a drink before my dinner and I understand thats a no no too.

It's another one of those 'faddy' diets, 'pure' protiens, oat bran, can't have this or that with that - drive you mad.
You'd be better off with Weight Watchers Pro points - nothing is banned - you CAN have that glass of wine if you want it, you just have to count the points and work your menu points accordingly. It's not calorie counting, there's loads of 'free' points stuff like salad and some vegetables, use a bit of imagination and you won't become bored, there are quite a few frozen meals readily available too that you can add salad or veg to to save time. My cousin lost 4 stone in 7 months went from a size 22 to a 10-12 - she looks a different person and she swers she was never hungry
Dukan is a low carb diet...and supposedly one of the more restrictive ones.
I have been doing a version of LCHF.....low carb,high fat. In 3 months I lost 1 1/2 stone,and was never hungry.
This type of diet is not faddy-it's been around for quite a few years, and is gaining more and more support as it is ideal in some cases for diabetics. It has been adopted by health officials in Sweden to help tackle that country's obesity problem. Apparently low carb works because carbs cause the release of insulin-which in turn causes the body to hold on to fat.
It's based on natural food....no processed rubbish or low fat ready meals.

There is some good information here - http://eatlikeaswede....rb-high-fat-approach/

It's worth checking out...but of course a diet has to work for YOU and your lifestyle.

There`s an interesting court case going on at the moment involving Dr Dukan. One of the things mentioned is that an online survey of 5000 Dukan dieters found that 80% of the people put the weight back on within four years. All of these low carb diets are pretty much ripping off the Atkins diet. I tried the Atkins diet for a week and it worked for me (I just wanted to get into a particular outfit for a wedding). The next time I tried it I did it when I was working and I was exhausted. My job requires a lot of stamina and I just didn`t have it. Merica`s right (IMO) - diets such as WW or Slimming World seem to be the most sustainable. They`re not so much diets as a way of healthy eating for life.
