We have an excellent little Italian Restaurant in my local town - very much a one-man-band in the kitchen and (because of that) a limited menu choice. He does revamp the choices, but only occasionally.

The birdwatchers eat there on a regular basis and we've worked our way through the entirety of the current menu, but spotted that there was a 'special menu' for Valentine's Night - with some new and interesting dishes on it.

So we booked a table.

Unfortunately, illness and family problems have meant that some of the regulars can't come, so we're now down to just five for tonight ... which would be fine ... but it's just me and four women ... on Valentine's Night.

The looks on the faces of the couples at the other tables should be fun ...

Small and friendly, pasta - they've only been going a few months, but are already my favourite place around here
