Is there any such thing as a 'sweet' red wine? I only like very sweet white wine (hate dry) and fancied trying a sweet red if it exists?

No such thing as sweet red, as far as I know, but just last night my wife brought in a bottle of Blossom Hill Californian red wine, available from any supermarket, and it was just about the sweetest, smoothest red wine I've ever drunk..!! Totally yummy... Give it a try...
Blossom Hill do a "soft fruity red" (that's what it's called), and it's fab. Sorry TommyC, maybe that's the one you had?? Also worth trying is Blossom Hills White Zinfandel....it's a rose, tastes of berries, delish! Great in the warm weather cos you can chill it. And NO, I don't work for Blossom Hill.
....but I work for ASDA so buy it from there!!
Sweet red wine sounds disgusting to me but there are some available. There are certainly some sweet red Georgian wines, as I drank one by accident in Moscow. There's also at least one sweet Greek red. Don't know where you'd get such horrors but they certainly exist.
there are reds that are actually sweet...tend to be kosher wines from Israel. our tescos have them also no-one has mentioned lambrusco which is sweet and fizzy
avoided menitoning lambrusco cos I wouldn't voluntarily drink it myself....I think we were trying to recommend wines that actually tasted nice LOL!!!
Look for 'Mavrodaphne' wine - it is stocked in all the major supermarkets, has a black label and comes from Greece. Its a delightful very sweet red wine and very reasonably priced.

Newer wine drinkers do like sweeter wines and large brands, such as Blossom Hill, are made less dry than you'd expect, but they are still not a sweet wine as requested by Casey.

Another sweet red wine is Port. There are other sweet red wines, but the two mentioned are widely available.

Another good sweet red wine is Oxymoron.

there are loads of sweet red wines to choose from, the problem is that red wine is not sold as sweet to dry but through body. your best bet is to read the description; go for fruity light to medium bodied wines which have not been oaked; Many of the australian wines such as jakobs (spell?) creek taste like they have added suger but can be quite strong in alcohol (14%)a young french or spanish wine will likely be fruity but lighter. jim
