I have just watched a documentary on Tai Woffinden (World Speedway Champion). Three things came to mind
1. What a very talented individual he is, in his chosen sport.
2. What a thoroughly decent and genuine guy he seems off the track.
3. Why do you cover your body with tattoos?

I don't like them, and therefore would never dream of having one myself. Wondering what other ABers thoughts are.

It's a fashion....and like many a fashion, not very sensible.

Each to their own,
but not for me thanks!
would never consider one myself because it involves unnecessary pain but each to their own
I quite like them on other people- I went out with a heavily tattooed boyfriend for a while, but they don't fit into my plans and might restrict me so I won't be having one myself. It's a personal choice, some are very beautiful and some are ghastly - just like the people whose bodies they adorn :)
I have 2 tats - both have a meaning and both are precious to me - I believe both are tastefully done
Each to their own i suppose - but i too do not like to see these very visible and bold tatoos .

I further dislike seeing tattoos on women - a little flower of something like that is quite ok .

A few months ago i saw a young lad whose arms / legs / chest / head - as was visible was , covered in tatoos - not very nice in my opinion .

By the way - what a great pity that the sport of speedway is not given more prominence in this country - i love watching speedway
Elina - that's Gareth Thomas and he's gay!!
Point 3 has been debated here before. I appreciate tastes differ and some may think them works of art, but I simply see them as marring an otherwise beautiful nature given skin; and I'm saddened this scarring of the body seems to be more accepted ever since celebs thought it a good idea.
I know I know ;0/
A girl I know - has Our Lady Mother of Jesus - tattooed on the ball of her leg. She had to get it done sporadically.
I agree OG ... but .... I'll let ^ off
Not a lover of these 'sleeves' type tattoos or head and neck ones
In was watching Graham Norton the other night .

On the show was Cheryl Cole - apparently she has quite a few bold tatoos on her - i couldn't see them
"...and like many a fashion, not very sensible. "

Quite so. But after wearing a pair of badly fitting shoes in the name of fashion you can kick them off and throw them away.

Tattoos are a bit like "personalised" vehicle registration numbers. They usually mean absolutely nothing to most other people but those having them seem to have to say "look at me".

A young lady found out to her cost a week or so ago that the tattoo she had on her ankle prevented her application for cabin crew with BA from being progressed. Naturally she was "devastated" (as anyone who faces the tiniest of disappointments seems to be these days) and said she thought the decision ws unfair. Well there you go. BA has good reason to have a policy of no visible tattoos among its staff (tattoos in some countries have offensive undertones) and she should have thought it through before having her body mutilated. But as has been said, each to their own and that goes for employers as well as employees.
another guy I know - if he was to shave his hair off -a dragon on his scalp. Urghhh
I have a few, I dont see the problem, they are a work of art, some appreciate them and others hate them.

We were down in Deal one afternoon last week, passed a guy, must have been in mid/late 50's, his entire face/head/neck covered in them, URGH!!
