Maybe this wouln't be a bad idea, but at the same time does one agree that some of the female magazines generally targetted at teenage girls should also be similarly restricted? Due to the fact that some of their contents have been proven to have a detrimental effect on young females?

I am neither agreeing nor disagreeing with you at this stage but can you give an example of a female mag that has effected a young girl negatively?
Richard, I suspect that aog means the suggestion that magz aimed at teenage girls have increased such problems as anorexia etc.

As for the question, well I'm female, and having read magz aimed at both teenage boys and girls, I have to say that I think the girls magz are worse in regards their approach to sex, alcohol, etc.

There is one (girls mag) in particular (and I'm talking about 10yr ago, so it may be different now), that I used to buy, which had "position of the fortnight" (with instructions, diagrams and endorsements from couples who had tried it)! It also had a section of "embarrassing stories", most of which were readers writying in about the time they were so incredibly drunk, or the time they were caught having sex by ther parents etc.

and I know this mag was really aimed at older females, but was widely available to mid teens.

Girls magz should be similarly restricted IMO.
Please excuse all of the above typos!! Just been out for a puff, and my fingers were bloody freezing, LOL!

That is exactly where I was coming from elginred, thanks for putting your female slant and actual experiencers on it.

I'd sooner this nonsense populate magazines than news papers, my personal opinion is that lads mags are just perve mags for shy wnakers.
If people did'nt buy em people would'nt write em, that says more about Britain today than anything else.
Yes absolutely I do.
The ongoing and increasing sexualisation of women, young girls and for that matter children should be extremely worrying for any intelligent person, and this applies to most media. Lads mags have to be one of teh most blatant examples though.
On the basis of elginred's reply and explanation then yes they should be restricted. I also agree that these lads mags are a form or porn so should be restricted.
So are the Sun, Star and Sport also getting an 18 rating? Unless they introduce some sort of nipple count can see how legally you can classify a lads mag without it referring to nudity in some form which those papers and plenty of other magazines getting included.

Personally I couldn't care less one way or the other about it.

As to your point, yes totally agree.
