We have a new setee and chair , previous one shredded at the corners by our cat. Any cat friendly suggestion to avert the shredding of the corners of the new furniture?
Cat repellant not a good idea of course as it could spread to other places.

Is a setee anything like a sofa ?
oh, the North/South divide!
cat proof setee?cats are boss,as you are prob. aware,so once they've habit yours seem to have that's usually it.what's the sofa made of,would you be able to attatch something to it,so that gets scratched instead
You can buy things called "Sticky Paws" which are clear sticky strips that the cats don't like, although I haven't tried them myself. I think Lakeland sell them. I found that my three cats left our leather suite alone, my daughter's theory was that it reminded them of dead animals, and served as a warning!

Thanks
Settee/sofa.
Iynb seems good suggestion there.
May try some wood block lying around with catnip or something, see if she scratches that instead.
im sure its something like vinegar that cats dont like the smell of... although you may be questioned by people as to why your sofa smells like vinegar- atleast it will be on one piece
Get a water pistol - you only need to lightly spray the cat and after about a week they tend to get the idea and stop scratching
In fact with my mums cat all they do is show the cat the water pistol and he stops doing whatever antisocial thing hes about to do

good luck
If it's wood try polishing with a citrus smelling polish or wax as they don't like the smell or spray citrus flavoured sprays onto fabric.

Thanks for that....
I'll see if I can get some sticky paws before trying any other ideas. Doubt I'll use the vinegar method.

Get a dog and let it lie on the sofa! The cat will want to be in a higher position so will find another piece of furniture to sit on!
