Gurdianship of a child

My daughter is pregnant and is not with the father. She would like to make her father and I legal gaurdians of her child if anything happens to her.

The father works very long hours which would make it very difficult for him to take care of his child. We would always allow him access to it at any time.

I know that as grandparents we would have no legal rights to their child. How does she go about making us the guardians?
