Totally random, but extremely hypothetical....Say your out trekking in the Valleys with your mom and your child, lets say 11 year old son..The ground underneath you gives way and you manage to grab onto both your mother and childs arms, you are struglling to hold them, you know that if you dont do something soon you'l lose them both to certain death....You've guessed the question....you must let one go to save the other...which?? the most probable answer would be your momma...but ???

sh1t what a question stevie !

i think its a mothers natural reaction to save her child. their life is just begining, not that thats any consolation but thats the way i'd weigh it up.

we love our mothers so much but our kids are something else. Thank the lord that we don't have to make this choice in reality.
Totally agree with UJ.
Let's just hope none of us are ever in this situation.

As a mother i would save my child.
yeah ice maiden but now i feel guilty for saying it lol
i want my mummy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thing is, as a mum themselves, its what they would say anyway .

If i was the mum and my son had my grandchild in that postion, id make him drop me ! no question, let the young live ! im outta here lol

I know its not a nice thought, i know its our instinct to protect our own children no matter what...I was just thinking if such a thing did happen, the aftermath of your actions....it would be something very hard to forget,i mean say you had the chance to say something to her and she to you??? Brrrrrrr its a horrible thought, apologies, wheres that time machine gone X

iI would hold onto both but eventually Iwould concentrate on my child. I know my mum would do the same, and she would understand. She has had a wonderful life, and knows I love her, and knows her memory will live on. I know she would want me to save my child. She would give her life for me, just as I would to give my own life for my child.
And I would want anybody to give my life to save my child's.
Not quite like Sophie's choice, but close!
Don't have any kids, btw!

Two kinds of men in this world KP ' *******( ******'s) and Liars ' because if you dont ****,your a foookin liar XXX
I would say Mum I love you and I will ever love you. And that would be enough. I would want my children to do the same, save their own kids.
Ever? sorry...I meant always. The french idiot doesn't know how to speak English....
not hard, not impossible, sorry mum but the child would come first! No matter how much you love your parents, the love for your child totally eclipses that, and thats the way it should be:-)
Definitely child, they have their life ahead of them and mothers have had a lot longer...not a hard choice at all. I'd kill to save my son, so that maternal tiger protection instinct is still alive and well in some mums.
I would save my child without question...........mind you I don't like my mum (I have many good reasons for this) so its not a quandry at all for me.
Yep...definately my child.

Of course it would be devastating having to make that choice, but the love I have for my kids outweighs the love I have for my mum.

Sorry mum :o(
Adious Madre!
There is always the thought that you can have more children but you cant get a new Mum............................

Not my personal opinion, but thought I would stir it up a bit.
Your mum might have a better chance of survival -anyway -this i'm afraid Stevie is a no brainer and I think out of all the hypothetical Q's you could have come up with this one HAS to be the most ridiculous -couldnt even play Devils Advocate here and neither could you.

Right next -make it a good soul searching one this time x
How about get your mum to put her spare arm around your son then you could drag them both to safety? . . . . . . . . . . Just don't feed them up too much before you go for the walk otherwise they'd be that heavy you'd end up being pulled in too !
