I also bought some peppermint oil but it says to consult a doc before use. Anyway does anybody have any good ideas for pregnancy nausea? I'm going to have a sick day from work tommorrow as I just cant do anything at the moment. Thanks peeps

my mum always said that best remedy for her was to eat a dry biscuit and have a cup of tea BEFORE getting out of bed in morning.
Perfect excuse for getting MrMountainboo to look after you too.
I always felt sick but was never sick, I found eating little and often helped as did sucking on mints.
I heard of others than used travel sickness wrist bands to ease discomfort and also some who ate something called preggypops which are a lollypop http://www.laconception.co.uk/acatalog/u.html
I tried everything, nothing helped me at all!!! even water made me sick,it will soon pass all i can say is dry toast. I tried eating, then threw up and then i could eat more after that cos i was already sick,if that makes sense!!?? That was the worst part of pregnancy for me,except labour of course!! It will soon pass.I have sympathy for you believe me
Keeping your sugar levels up certainly help. Bananas give you excellent energy and are possibly the best preventative for you to eat. Eat cereal in the morning to as its good slow release.

In the interim period, UI would suggesting smelling lots of things that dont make you feel ill. I found oranges made me feel better so I walked around with tangerines in my pocket.

Tangerines, thats a good idea goodsoulette, I'll definately do that because smell is the main thing thats affected I guess. Leewayne, You abviously had it very bad, I hope I dont go the same way, but I'm glad it doesn't last for too long. Out of curiosity how long does it usually last?
mine lasted till i was 17 weeks gone,i hated the smell of microwaves and burgers, still fresh in my mind!!! I had to cope with looking after my 2 year old too, what a nightmare sometimes i couldnt move. I hope it doesnt last long for you. Fatty foods make it worse or drinking too quickly. They do say ginger helps,or dry foods or eating little and often. It normally lasts until 12-16 weeks, hope your one of the lucky ones!!

Ok, thanks leewayne. I'm sorry yours lasted so long.
Never again for me!!! I was starved
Sounds strange but the only thing that worked for me was drinking flat coke before i got out of bed. My mum advised this and i thought she was losing it, but it really did work. Hope this might help.
I really do sympathise with you mountainboo, I am also suffering 24 hour morning sickness! I have been for the past 4/5 weeks. Nothing seem to work for me........the wristbands........ginger biscuits........the list goes on!

I have found I am best eating little and often and sucking on hard boiled sweets as has been suggested. I wasnt just suffering with nausea, I was also constantly feeling faint and weak and was really struggling to do the simplest of tasks. When I suffered a stomach bug an was constantly being sick, the doctor put me on Avomine tablets, which are basically travel sickness tablets. I found that not only did the stop the nausea and sickness, they also stopped the faintness as well. I have been allowed to have a repeat prescription of these but I am only allowed to have them on an as and when needed basis.

Apart from sleeping 24 hours a day, this is the only thing that works for me. If, like me, you really are suffering bad, you could possibly ask your doctor about them.

Lets hope the sickness stops for us both very soon!

thanks twizzle and psychick. will bear that in mind. hope yours gets better soon too
Hiya, mine lasted til i was 20 weeks,it got so bad,i ended up in hospital on a drip.I think its just a case of "grin & bare it".Everyone is different, taste, smells.I could smell paint half a mile away.I went off tea, coffee pretty much all drins except blackcurrant squash. Also,i think if you get bad sickness, you may get bad heartburn later on,i did,so stock up on Gavviscon.Good luck.
Like redcrx I was never actually sick but was incredibly nauseous.

I found a ginger nut biscuit (or ginger thin) and a sweet cup of tea first thing did the trick.

Mind you I had terrible trouble trying to brush my teeth ~ made me wretch like billy-o!
lol i was the same pippa, i used to dread the toothbrush!

a poor friend of mine is 36 weeks pregnant and so far has lost 3 stone due to serious sickness from her pregnancy. :(
I suffered terribly with morning sickness, both times, but found that a couple of ginger biscuits helped - a bit.
