Am I the only person in the world who thinks that people should have to take a test before they're allowed to have kids (men and ladies)? This is how I think it should go:

You are tested on things like how sensible you would be if you broke up, your attitude to stuff (would you find it amusing that your 8 year old was smoking fags, would you put your 2 year old in a thong, would you be like ooooh but my wee Johnny would never do that it must be EVERYONE elses problem, not his etc), your ability to teach them the world doesn't owe them a living and that they should not spit at old peole in the street. The ability to stand your ground against a 3 year old (its kicking and screaming outside thorntons, you're shouting and swearing at it saying your not going in there, the kid continues to squeal, you scream ok we'll go in but you're not ******* getting anything. The kid walks out 2 mins later with a chocolate lolly) And lots of other things.

If you fail you should be temporarily steralised untill you can pass it.

I think the world would be a much better place :)

It's not just about age, some tenageers are fabulous parents. Some people are just all wrong, how can you make it to your thirties and have kids and act like a 5year old! I'm a right wee ranter today, hehe x
They do Red.....It's called the pill
lol ummmmm, it obviously isnt working though is it :)
i agree wholeheartedly but then what about people in third world countries not having children because they cant feed them, or having sex when they could get pregnant knowing they have aids, where do we stop? but yes there are some real imbeciles who unfortunately get pregnant, or father , and have babies always have been and always will be , doesnt bear thinking about really !
I totally agree that people should be tested in someway before they're allowed to have kids. I work in a really deprived area and there are so many people there who should not be allowed to have children. They bring the children up in the totally wrong environment, around the wrong people and ultimately, the children end up like their parents and therefore becoming another strain on society - As much as I dislike children, none of them deserve to be brought up by some of the thoughtless parents out there!
This ones a hard one because some people don't make great parents and one of my pet hates is parents who go on about how perfect their kids are, my brother in law is always doing this regarding my nephew and niece and although i love the kids they are a pair of spoilt brats as they get everything they want but then their dad can afford it. I think in a way by him going on this way h's pushing me to feel resentful towards the kids because i'm not being allowed to think my own opinion. On the other hand my 3 year old son is a loving boy but hyperactive and i make no secret of it to outsiders, everytime i'm out with him he constantly whinges and i get alot of stares and dirty looks from people, if they say anything i tell them he has behavioural problems and they soon go away. I'm a single mum and bringing up my son with his behaviour is a strain but i believe i'm doing the best i can for him. There are alot of times that i have to give in to his screaming and whinging as it causes great embarassment in the shops etc and i don't enjoy being stared at or spoken to by strangers in a patronising way as if i don't know how to control or parent my own child, or stupid comments like, ("he's tired that's all") As if they knew what the problem is better than i do.

I don't think it's anyone's right to tell anyone that they are'nt allowed to have kids either, everyone's idea of an ideal upbringing vary's, obviously no-one wants their kids to grow up doing drugs or commiting crimes and slapped with an Asbo but no matter how well you think you're raising them, they inevitably have a mind of their own and will choose their friends and if they do these things then you can't always blame the parents.

I fell pregnant at 24 and i was in a relationship. I thought that was young, i was'nt ready for a child. In fact until i gave birth i did'nt have that maternal feeling that were meant to feel. It felt natural though and i think i even 'grew' up
trouble is what you do and say when you dont have children is not always the same as when you have them, your priorities change and so do your feelings so a "test" wouldnt do the most of us any good
I agree with the above. We all start out with high ideals before we become parents and then reality kicks in and you soon realise its not that easy a job when your children come along. But yes there sre plenty of people out there who seemingly shouldn't have kids and they are the very ones that breed to excess too. Unfortunately there is no one qualified to judge who should and who shouldn't hence the world is the way it is
I believe most of welfare managers have to qualify before they are let loose protecting the young and naive. Doesn't always seem to work for them though. Drivers pass a test, doesn't prevent accidents. The best for of parenting is experience, possibly with the help of grandparents advice
