Are these transferable? I have an enhanced (kids) DBS which is required for my job, could it used for volunteering (with kids) at our local church. Or will I need to get them to arrange their own one for me?

Usually not. They usually require a new one anyway.

No Rocky, they are not transferable.

I had to have a new one done for my recent voluntary position. (They paid)

It costs £13 per year (or free for volunteers) to subscribe to the DBS Update Service. Your DBS certificate then becomes 'portable' between employers and voluntary bodies:

That link is quite interesting Chris, can't understand why you have to register within 19 days of the certificate being issued though. Mine's 18 months old!

Strange names are not confined to the `UK. When I was working on the Copper mines in Zambia our African local staff included a Cement Chimundo , Elastic Banda , (I kid you not) Jesus Christ & a Mercedes Benz .
