Support Groups for young widows / widowers.

My friend's husband has passed away aged 39 and she is now 40.
She was given some basic information by the hospital on getting the estate sorted out but not much more.
I am just wondering if anybody knows any support groups around the Birmingham area geared towards people in that position.
I realise people are normally 70+ when they are widowed but there must be lots of young widows under 50.

Hi tonyav

She lives between Sutton Coldfield / Walsall.
She has a car so she would be happy to travel up to about 10 miles in the week and about 30 miles during the weekend.

Sorry to hear about your friends husband Janezz x life isn't fair x hope she gets the help she needs x
My Mum was widowed when she was 33 as my Dad died suddenly age 35. I know she used to go to Cruse for counselling. Her head was all over the place so think it did her good to have a chat with someone impartial (I think he even use to let her smoke in the room - back in the days before the smoking ban lol). She really struggled having 3 young children to look after and would feel so angry a lot of the time (one of the emotions of grief). Don't know if your friend has children but we all went for counselling too. Sorry I can't recommend anything else for your friend, life can be cruel!
Hi, this is nothing to do with your question but I was intrigued by your name. My name is also Jane with a middle initial Z. Only one Z though!
Its more common than you'd think

CAB keep a directory of support groups and services and the neighbourhood office, local library and maybe even GP practice may have local lists
