Do you think British society has moved on since the time when Quentin crisp had to suffer so much prejudice because of his sexuality?
Or are the british still as prejudiced as ever to homosexuals?

Yes.
Yes, people are still prejudiced, unfortunately these days people cant say what what thwy want, as it would be un-PC.
'Some' British people will always remain prejudiced.....fear of diversity or the unknown will be a constant....it's the human condition sadly...

Dolt im confused by your answer.Seems contradictory.
Not really Teddy, I'm just saying that people cant express how they really feel nowadays for fear of imprisonment, these days voicing your dislike of others is a crime.
.........whether it be someones sexuality or race......
"unfortunately these days people cant say what what thwy want, as it would be un-PC".
Indeed, you can't call a poof a poof these days let alone gang-beat them up in a deserted side road at 1am, next thing we know it'll be compulsory.
Dolt by name...
"let alone gang-beat them up in a deserted side road at 1am"
That wasn't my intention Malichite.
"people cant express how they really feel nowadays for fear of imprisonment, these days voicing your dislike of others is a crime".
That's bullsh1t. What you you can no longer do "nowadays" is engage in threatening/violent behaviour towards a person because of their sexuality or race but that is what we call social progress and if you can't handle it, then it's *you* and your ilk that need to get sorted out.
Nor was that what I said either. ..
Malachite, even voicing you dislike of others is a offence and you can be imprisoned for it. Nowt do do with violence.
So what, in relation to the original post (ie. the Quentin Crisp era's attitude to homosexuals) did you mean by: "people cant say what what thwy want, as it would be un-PC".

I am a bit perplexed by dolts answers.
So am I.

I was discussing this earlier on with my partner. And we both think things have improved, but the old prejudices still exist , but some people tend to hide it now , because of being Pc. Im not sure if thats an improvement or not?Seems to me like whispering behind peoples backs instead of saying it to their faces now.
BTW - I think the Naked Civil Servant is a timeless classic.
I believe that society has moved on from those days, prejudice still exists among the homophobic/closet cases and stubborn old fascists, but generally it's much better. I wish poor old QC could be re-born into this era, he (and others) didn't deserve all the atrocities they had to go through.
Question Author
One would certainly like to think so.
