Hi all,
I'm 34 weeks pregnant and my baby is still lying breech. I know people keep saying theres still time for it to turn, but its been in the same position now (head under my right ribs) for about 3 weeks and I reckon its got comfy. E very week that passes will surely leave it with less and less room to turn. I've done the usual getting on all 4's to watch telly (killer on the hands and elbows) and sitting on the ball for hours.
Apparently at our hospital they routinely do C-sections for all pre-diagnosed breech cases. I hate the idea of a section. Not the procedure itself but the recovery and longer stay in hospital etc.
I've done a bit of reading and this moxibustion idea keeps popping up. I wonder if anyone has had 1st hand experience of this or even know of people that it has been successful for? I also heard that ECV is quite nasty although I'd rather try it. Has this worked for anyone here?
Grateful for any advice.

moxi stickes were recommended to me by my midwife when baby CRX was breech at about 32 weeks.
Luckily she turned for me anyway as i couldnt find any locally.

I have heard of a lot of women who they have worked for, god knows how or why, and others who have had ECV that has worked or not worked, but it isnt comfortable.

see if some of these work http://www.askbaby.com/getting-baby-in-positio n-for-birth.htm

Thank you. I'm thinking of trying the Chinese herbalist shop for the sticks. Its heartening to hear that its worked for lots of women.
Yes I've heard ECV can be quite painful. Fingers crossed It wont come to that. Maybe I'll just crawl everywhere for the next few weeks. ;o)
Thanks again.
the moxi sticks arent going to hurt (well as long as you dont burn them too close to your feet) so they have to be worth a try.

good luck
My friend is due on Thursday and she was taken into hospital 10days ago (she would have been 37-38weeks then) as her baby was in breech position - hospital said they would keep her in for one week, and if baby hadn't turned then they would have to do a c-section . After one night in hospital he turned around and is now engaged! I think he realised he was in trouble and so did as he was told - try not to panic lollyone (easy to say I know), there is still time for MiniLolly to turn xx

Good to hear, thank you natalie. The weeks are just flying by too fast. Got everything crossed though.
Hiya! Faith (8 weeks) was breech and we only found out at 37 weeks although I had a suspicion!
I went for the ECV because I knew I would be a wimp having a section and was totally bricking it....I had heard all sort of horror stories about it being worst than giving birth!
When it actually came to having it done I was a wreck, but the consultant was fantastic, explained everything in detail and I was happy to know they only try to turn the babs for 3mins a maximum of 3 times.
After the 1st 3mins he scanned me again and bubs had turned! It DID hurt, but nowhere near as much as I thought it would, I would say it's more uncomfortable and odd feeling coz you can feel the baby move position.
I ended up having a normal delivery, even if she was 10lb 9oz I would reccomend it!!

Wow thanks Niallsmama! I'm having another scan on Wed then they will book me in for ecv the week after. I dont fancy it, but I'd rather that than a c-section. To be honest I'm having a lot of pain anyway cos bubs is kicking really low down.
Its the recovering that I'd be most worked up about a section-no driving etc..
I'm having 4 sessions of acupuncture in the meantime, apparently has a high success rate. Fingers crossed. Thanks again.
from what i know, they can turn very last minute. Mine was breech. they told me she was in the right position and engaged very early, no probs, then diagnosed breech at 7cm dilated when my waters broke!!! had to have a scan then to check whilst in full on labour!!! drug free, but then an emergency section and being told NOT to push! very traumatic, but discharged myself from hospital after 2 days. got a bad spinal headache from the anesthetic and had to go back in the next day for a procedure to stop the fluid leaking from my spine only to be told i couldnt have it as i was having daily injections to stop blood clotting for dvt cos of the section so got painkillers instead! sounds horrific but actually the scar healed really well and i didnt have too much of a ropey recovery. got another baby due april and am praying this isnt breech as i cant have this recovery with a 16mth old to run round after too!
