My friend finds out the gender of her baby today and wants to do a gender revealed. Undecided as to whether it's a cute idea, or a bit tacky...

It's a bit ironic to do it when within a few years the parents may well be in the media advocating no gender, binary, multigender and all the other myriads of formats we are supposed to embrace.

that's something else i dont understand. what if it was the opposite to wht they were hoping for would they have a gender sadness party, or send, "sorry to heave to tell you but it's a boy" texts. I remember telling people my daughter was going to be a girl and they were all "how lovely" they would have said exactly the same if id have said it's a boy

What is wrong with?:
"Woman has baby , feeds it , looks after it and takes it in the park in't's pram."
"Man tells woman what a clever girl she is, gets dressed and goes of to work to support wife and baby.
What's this "bonding?" It's rubbish, a baby just needs feeding and it couldn't care less who feeds it.
